in HILL CITY - RIGHT NOW...
Attention: Friends of the Museum
It is a unique time that we find ourselves in...
a new stretch of track as it were.
As Americans, it is our conditioned reaction to repeat the phrase
“We will move on and get through this,
just as we have in other times of crisis and turmoil.”
This is a faith-based, historically-stoic attitude many value as
a comforting and steadying axiom, based on
historic traditionsand institutions.
The South Dakota State Railroad Museum, Limited was founded to preserve, interpret, and promote South Dakota’s railroading history - while showing a cross-section of the cultures, institutions, and communities that railroads fostered.
Through this vision, the Board of Directors and Staff of the South Dakota State Railroad Museum, Ltd. is committed to doing all that we can to safeguard the health and well-being of our visitors, staff , and volunteers.
We share a responsibility with all institutions and members of our greater community help mitigate the spread of thecoronavirus (COVID-19)
and have decided to close our facility to the public
until AT LEAST May 22nd, 2020.
We will diligently monitor this critical situation with concern,
as we ask you to do as well. Concern, and not panic, will be a paramount part of our overall response. We will consult
with our local, State, and National health officials to make the most appropriate and responsible decisions as to reopening
for our members and visitors.
The Museum serves as an educational, historic,
and entertaining respite for our visitors.
We invite you to continue to follow
our progress and informational postings on this web site.
Your may also follow our posts and support us
with a membership as well.
