The South Dakota State Railroad Museum, Ltd. (SDSRM) and the Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern Railroad (RCPE) have announced a new joint promotion to bring additional recognition to the Museum, and the railroad’s partnership with the non-profit entity.

“We are always looking for new ways to promote the Museum, and our partners in the railroad industry of South Dakota,” said Rick Mills, Museum curator. “We are always thinking outside the box car - if you will. What better way than to actually brand a working freight car, and educate the public about railroading.”

Rod Wiseman is General Manager of the RCPE, which is based in Rapid City. “The Museum came to us with this idea for promotion - and it seemed like a good idea for cooperation. We both gain exposure, encourage questions, and provide name recognition.” The logo will be applied to a number of the company's bentonite clay hoppers that are in service from bentonite plants near Belle Fourche, South Dakota to destinations around the nation. 

Mills encourages not only safety and distance when watching trains roll by, but also to look for the Museum’s logo on these cars.

The Museum’s email and web contact info is above the logos. Entries of where viewers see the cars will be entered into a monthly drawing for an embroidered SDSRM cap and other periodic prizes from the RCPE.
